Under the management of former Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Zambia boss Herve Renard, the French come into Paris 2024 as one of the leading contenders for the gold medal. France have been a little more inconsistent than they would have liked or expected since Renard’s appointment but they remain an extremely strong side with plenty of quality players. Colombia have recently risen to number 22 in FIFA’s Women’s Rankings but, with an interim coach at the helm, they do perhaps remain in a frustrating state of flux as they tackle a global tournament. France, especially with home advantage, will be expected to start their group stage campaign with a victory.
