Earlier this year, Namibia played at their first ever major international tournament at the 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast. They surprised many, too, by defeating Tunisia and squeezing themselves into the Round of 16. They have started the 2025 qualifying campaign with a slender 1-0 defeat to Cameroon in Douala with a 65^th minute winner scored by Vincent Aboubakar. Kenya were left frustrated in their opening game as they played at the neutral venue of the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala in Uganda and they shared a goalless draw with Zimbabwe. This game is also being played in the neutral venue of Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg but, despite that, there is a clear favourite with a low-scoring Namibian victory to be expected.
