It has been a miserable decade or so for Celtic in UEFA competition. With competition from Rangers even weaker this season domestically, there is pressure for Brendan Rodgers and the Bhoys to make a mark in this season’s UEFA Champions League. Slovan Bratislava pulled off a major surprise to reach this stage of the competition by beating Danish side Midtjylland in the playoffs last month. The Slovakians have a few talents on the counter-attack but, especially at Parkhead, Celtic must surely begin their hunt for a long European season with a victory in Glasgow.
